Nigeria football ambassador, Nwankwo Kanu has visited Kenneth Omeruo at his Dutch club, while tipping the Eagles defender for greatness.
Former Nigeria skipper Kanu, who was accompanied by Omeruo’s representative Chika Akujobi, told MTNFootball.com that he visited Omeruo at his Dutch club ADO Den Haag so as to encourage him.
“I visited Kenneth so as to support and encourage him. He is one of our young talents who is doing Nigeria proud in Europe,” said Kanu, who was warmly received on Thursday as he also first made his name in Holland with Ajax Amsterdam.
“The club told me that he is cool headed, a professional and very hard working.
“He’s growing and I see him going on to be a very great defender in the world. We will continue to support and push him to do even more.”
Omeruo himself said Kanu’s visit has lifted him.
“It’s a great honour to have an all-time great like Kanu at my club. It’s a great encouragement for a young player like me, it will lift me,” he said.
At 19, Omeruo took his chance at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa to keep out skipper Joseph Yobo from the Eagles first team as Nigeria went all the way to win a third continental title.
