Nigeria is presently in discussions with the government of Czech Republic to acquire three aircraft from the country as part of efforts to tackle insurgency in Nigeria.
Czech ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Pavel Mikes, made this known yesterday when he led a delegation including the Deputy Commander of Czech Airforce, Brigadier General Sebesta Jeromir, to the Minister of Interior Abba Moro in Abuja.
He said the aircraft which are designed with GPS that is active both in the day and night, will help Nigeria effectively monitor her vast borders.
The envoy who said Czech Republic can help Nigeria to combat terrorism, added that the cooperation between the countries went beyond combating terrorism to much wider and deeper areas.
Abba Moro said there was need for Nigeria to cooperate with the Czech Republic on issues of internal security and border management.
The minister said it was his hope that the visit would further strengthen the relationship between the two countries, noting that the purchase of the aircraft will compliment the efforts of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in combating cross border crimes and insecurity.
