Oyekale, however, stated that in today’s environment of emerging security threats, the need to re – engineer security routine processes via proper implementation of ICT are paramount to our everyday endeavours, hence the critical need for highly-qualified, experienced and skilful workforce in all security outfits becomes highly imperative.

He noted that, “The significant economic, social and cultural opportunities that are potentially available to Nigeria security officers, however, can only be capitalised upon if we provide both the framework and the inspiration for establishing a digitally literate security outfits.”

Oyekale maintained that digital literacy and basic computing skills are increasingly necessary for individual government officers and private individuals to move to 21st century standard, discharge their duties accordingly, and be competitive in the world.

According to him, in the Nigeria’s context, a careful examination of modern trend suggests that digital literacy/ICT education is critical to the acquisition of skills as well as building the ICT capabilities and capacities for Nigeria Security personnel, noting that it was in this regard that IC3 becomes even more relevant.
