The Nigerian military in a statement released on its website says it has taken into custody a man dressed as a woman who is suspected to be connected with the Wednesday 23rd bomb blast targeted at former Head of state, General Buhari.
The attack occurred near the busy Kawo market in Kaduna, killing 15 people, the police said.
A bomb-laden car rammed into the ex-leader’s convoy after trailing it for a distance, and unsuccessfully trying to overtake the escort vehicle to reach Mr. Buhari’s armoured SUV.
The military said the suspect was arrested by a security team that arrived at the explosion site not long after the blast. He was caught while trying to merge into a crowd of onlookers.
Some youth in the area tried to lynch the suspect while he was being arrested but were restrained by troops who whisked him away in an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC.
The statement said the suspect was currently being interrogated by security agencies to figure out his links with the attempt on Mr. Buhari’s life.
