78 students have been expelled by the management of the University of Ibadan over their poor academic performance as they failed to obtain the minimum academic requirements for the 2012/2013 session.
This was revealed by the registrar of the institution, Olujimi Olukoya who said in Ibadan, that the University’s Senate had approved the expulsion of the affected students.
Leadership reports that the affected students who are from 13 different faculties in the institution were at various levels ranging 100 to 400 levels.
Of the 78 expelled students, six gained admission into the university through the Direct Entry mode, 66 through University Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), while the remaining six entered the university through UME.
The expelled students have been asked to withdraw based on the recommendation of the University’s Senate which sat in May 2014.
The institution has said they would continue to uphold the highest standards in global scholarship.
