The Nigeria Police have promised to do everything within their powers to fish out and bring to book all those involved in the killing of their men in Nasarawa State on Thursday.
Over 30 police officers were killed in an ambush by a cult group in Nasarawa State on Tuesday.
“We must put an end to this endless circle of impunity, enough is enough, ’’ the police said in a statement issued by CSP Frank Mba, the Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, in Abuja on Thursday.
The statement said the Inspector-General of Police directed all field commanders and special units, including Assistant Inspectors-General of Police and Commissioners of Police, to harness all resources available to ensure that the reign of terror and lawlessness was brought to an end.
It described Tuesday’s killing of police personnel as disturbing, condemnable and highly distressing.
It noted that similar incidents had been recorded in Bayelsa and Borno states and had thrown up new and emerging threat in the delicate task of policing the country.
“We consider the attack not just an attack on the Nigeria Police and their officers and men but an attack on the collective will of Nigerians to protect and preserve our dear fatherland,” the police said.
“This, we have vowed to put an end to.’’
