Statesman and former Lagos state governor, Sir Michael Otedola, has been confirmed to have died today, Monday 5th of May.
Otedola, who has variously established his career as an international journalist, PR consultant, membership of corporate boards and philanthropist, was 87 years old.
He is the father of Femi Otedola, billionaire owner of one of Nigeria’s foremost oil companies.
Otedola served under the Ibrahim Babangida administration as governor of Lagos state from 1992 to 1993, where he facilitated the establishment of the Yaba College of Technology in Epe, his hometown in Lagos.
His death comes barely 24 hours after the passing away of former Supreme Court judge and revered jurist, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa.
