With the recent killing of a Nigerian student, Godwin Awogbo studying in Ghana, the Ghanaian government was yesterday given two week ultimatum to fish out killers by some human rights groups.
The groups who gave the ultimatum during a protest at the Ghana High Commission, Ikeja, Lagos said failure to adhere will yield a drastic action.
Godwin, an Economics student who was studying at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana was brutally killed by unknown persons over money with his lifeless body dumped by the side of the road and some of his internal organs gorged out, his hands and legs tied.
The groups who demanded a refund of the deceased school fees, which was alleged to have been collected from him by his attackers accused the Ghanaian Police and authorities of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana of trying to cover up the crime and those involved in the dastardly act.
The deceased mother, Mrs. Ngozi Awogbo, who also participated in the protest, told the Deputy Consul General, Mr. Isaac Essilifie, “we have invested so much in my son and see no reason why he should be killed like an animal while his killers are parading the streets of Ghana.”
