Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, yesterday, took a swipe at the the All Progressives Congress, APC, describing it as a commercial party whose leaders focus mainly on money.
According to him, those who dumped the PDP for the party would return when there was no money to be shared.
He spoke yesterday, when he received members of the National Consolidation Group, NCG, a pressure group under the PDP, at his Wuse 2 residence, Abuja, Tukur.
He said: “People are saying they are moving to ACP or APC, sometimes you don’t even know the name to call because they keep changing. But I can call it All Commercial Party because all they talk about is money, and inducing people.
”I enjoin all members of PDP who defected do a re-think and come back; we are all one family, one nation under God.
”It is my pleasure to welcome you all today to this courtesy call by your group, National Consolidation Group. I want to thank you people immensely for finding out time to be with me on this courtesy call, even when I have left office.
“I feel very overwhelmed with joy by your kind words and kind gesture.
”I thank you for this visit to me. As the immediate past national chairman of the PDP, I am convinced more than ever before, that when you offer credible, meritorious service and leadership, the people will at any time appreciate you whether in office or out of office or government.
”I feel highly encouraged that you are here today. I wish to use this opportunity to re-dedicate myself to the service of our great party, the PDP and our fatherland Nigeria.
“Our leaders across the country should use their positions to serve the people selflessly, with dedication to the peace, unity and stability of the nation.
”On my own part, I have always been a capacity builder, I have always built men and given them the platform to excel. I have served my country selflessly and will continue to render selfless service to our dear nation, Nigeria.
”I will also continue to serve the PDP and work for the party; for in the party lies the greatest hope for a united, peaceful and prosperous Nigeria. I urge you people to work for PDP and ensure that there is peace and harmonious existence in the party.
“I encourage you to give maximum support to the new National Chairman of the party and the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
”To me, I remain irrevocably committed to the course of the PDP. I will continue to be in the PDP and together we shall continue to work for and give unalloyed support to the party.
“This is because the PDP is the only reliable platform to serve Nigeria better.”
