More donations came the way of the Edo ‘Go and Die’ widow yesterday with the Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presenting a cash donation of N250,000 to Mrs Joy Ifijie, who was penultimate week insulted by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

However, Mrs Joy Ifijie, for undisclosed reasons, stayed away from the presentation ceremony at the PDP secretariat in Benin. The occasion was, nevertheless, attended by scores of widows invited to also witness the inauguration of the PDP Widows’ Empowerment Fund.

The Oredo women leader of PDP, Deaconess (Mrs) Pat West-Eraboh received the cash donation on behalf of the widow.

Oshiomhole, who was obviously disturbed by the reactions to his remarks, on Monday announced a N2million cash donation to the widow, coupled with automatic employment with the War Against Indiscipline in the state.

Edo State Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, while addressing journalists, expressed joy that the party’s effort in exposing Gov Oshiomhole’s maladministration has started yielding positive results.

Orbih announced that since the video of Oshiomhole’s outburst against the poor widow hit the facebook and YouTube, sympathizers who share the pains of Mrs Ifijie had raised N1million which will be shared to widows to alleviate their suffering. He said “It took Oshiomhole two weeks to come to apologize to the woman because we came out with the video. I watched the news on Monday and I was impressed by the conduct displaced by Mrs Ifijie.

In spite of the intimidating atmosphere, she came out to say she is not a street trader. From the governor’s presentation, there was no element of remorse and the apology was rather belated”.
