FIFA has banned Cape Verde from the final round of qualification for the 2014 World Cup and replaced them with Tunisia, because they used an ineligible player.
Reports reveal that Fernando Varela was picked for the game against Tunisia on September 7, despite being given a four-match ban in March this year. Cape Verde went on to win the match 2-0 and apparently secured a place in the third round of qualifiers.
However, FIFA has now reversed the result and awarded Tunisia a 3-0 win, after comfirming Varela was selected, which means the North Africans topped Group B and replaced Cape Verde.
The draws for the final round will be made on September 16 and the winners of the two-legged ties, will represent Africa at Brazil next year.
