There are fresh fears of renewed violence in Southern Kaduna following the killing of two Fulani herdsmen were killed on Saturday afternoon, March 11.

The herdsmen were reportedly shot while herding cattle in Anguwan Yashi village in Jema’a local government area.
The National Assistant Secretary of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Ibrahim Abdullahi, told PREMIUM TIMES over the telephone those killed are Anas Shuaibu, 20, and Yahaya Musa, 14.

Mr. Abdullahi however called on the Fulani community in the area “not to take the laws into their hands and allow the security agencies do their job”.

He also appealed to the attackers to “please give peace a chance.”

The spokesperson of the police in the state, Aliyu Othman, confirmed the incident and said nine persons have already been arrested in connection with the killing.
He said the police was proceeding with investigation of the murder.

Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Success Asibor who started acting professionally fours years ago, is also a producer and has featured in movies like When Dreams Fall Apart, In the Greek, Triggered and many more.

In a recent chat with Saturday Sun, she stated that demanding sex for a role was no big deal.

How did your acting career start?

I have always had passion for acting ever since I was very small. I remember vividly when I was like five years old, I would stay in front of the television in the house to watch movies, then later I will start acting the same way I watched it for my mummy. Then I used to admire Regina Askia, Liz Benzon and all. I started acting from secondary school but my father said it’s over his dead body that I will act. I would go for auditioning and he will flog me. After secondary school, I stopped attending auditioning and concentrated on my education. When I got admitted to Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma, Edo State, in year two, my immediate elder sister bought me a form to attend a movie audition. I told her ‘I’m scared, will you go with me?’ And she agreed to go with me. That sameday, I was auditioned and chosen. That was how I started acting in Edo State.

But my journey into the movie industry will not be complete if refuse to mention how I came across Chico Ejiro, Zeb Ejiro, Emmanuel Okukuwa and some other directors and artists. They saw me acting and were like, ‘wow, so you know how to act. You are also a good girl, the next time I have a movie to shoot, I will call you’ That was how I came down to Lagos to act with Uche Jombo on Chico Ejiro’s production.

What’s the title of the movie? 

It’s a movie titled  When Dreams Fall Apart.

Who do you look up to in the movie industry?

I want to be like Omotola Jalade.

Why her? 

I love her simplicity, and her real nature of interpreting roles. She’s very natural, she’s herself. When you watch her movies, you will notice that she doesn’t over act.  Movie is actually make believe and she always gives her acting that make believe touch.

Do you look forward to working with her? 

Definitely! I can’t wait to work with her. Although, we have both featured in the same movie, the day she came on set was the day I was leaving. But I was with her in the car for a while.

Like how many movies have featured in? 

I don’t have the number off hand but I could remember some titles like When Dreams Fall Apart, Made on Mission, Desperate Bankers, Shattered Dream, Evil in Me, Triggered, which was produced by me and lots more.

Considering the nature of your job, do you‎ think you would be able to stay long in the industry? 

Sure, I will stay long in the movie industry. I’m not in it because everybody is there, I’m here because of my passion for acting, this is me and all I love to do.  As the saying goes, ‘nothing good comes easy’. If I am not on set for two weeks, I’ll feel I’m not where I’m supposed to be. I love it when I am on set.

Has any producer told you that if I don’t have sex with you, I won’t give you role?

Yes, several times and I don’t see it as a big deal. It happens in other industries too. There’s always sexual harassment in other sectors; you see lecturers asking their students for sex before they can pass them. Even some bosses in corporate organisations ask their subordinates for sex before they can be promoted. But the ability to make you stand out, makes you who you are. I can’t say because I’m not picked for a role, I will now go and sleep with the producer or director. Never! That’s not me.

You are a beautiful lady, what is your beauty routine? 

Thank you. To maintain a fair skin is a whole lot of work, and my skin is very delicate, I react to any irritation. So, I try as much as I can not to share towel, bathing soap or cream with anybody. I take two glasses of warm water every morning and night. And I eat more of vegetables and fruits.

You once said that your boobs are your selling points, how do you maintain them to remain your selling points?

I used to think that my boobs are my selling points, but now my brain is my selling point because I have a lot in there that is very profitable for the movie industry. As for my boobs, I don’t tie wrapper on my chest for any reason, because it sags the boobs. I don’t  wear bras with iron underneath and I don’t sleep with my bra on.

Is Success Asibor in a relationship? 

I am in a relationship, but I’m single and not married. I am always ready to mingle.

Is your man comfortable with the nature of your career?

Yes, he’s very comfortable with my job; he loves it so much. Anything I do, he’s always supporting me and he’s very, very understanding.

What kind of guy would you like to settle down with?

First of all, he must be God fearing, understanding and very romantic.

What inspired your movie, Triggered?

People’s perception about men. A lot of people believe men are the ones that cheat and not women, but the both of them are guilty. Triggered centers on an ingrate girl friend, but then the rest will be unveiled when the movie is out as home video.

Aside acting, what else do you do? 

Aside acting, I sell hair extensions and female wears.

Between movie making and trading, which is more profitable?

Like I said earlier, acting is my passion; it gives me joy and satisfaction, but my business pays me more.

Are you ready for marriage?

I will wait for God’s own time.

What is that special thing that acting has done for you? 

It’s really opening doors for me these days I must confess, I have been getting different adverts of recent.

Those condemning the Founder and President of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman over his alleged romance with Canada-based singer, Stephanie Otobo have been urged to exercise patience as there can be smoke without fire.

A Former Special Adviser to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Electronic Media, Reno Omokri said this in reaction to the Sex Scandal involving the clergyman.

Recall that Otobo had recently accused the Edo-born fiery preacher of impregnating and abandoning her.

Following her initial allegation against the preacher, the Canada based singer has continued to release more intimate details about her alleged romance with Suleman.

However, Suleman has since denied the allegations levelled against him.

Reacting to the allegation, Omokri said Nigerians were too hasty in their judgement of the case.

Omokri who believes that Suleman may be innocent of the allegations said those condemning him should wait until he died before burying him.

In a post on his Facebook wall, Omokri wrote: “Some of you are here on facebook spitting venom on Apostle Johnson Suleman for an accusation whose veracity you are not sure of.

“I just read from a fellow on facebook who wrote a statement with a lot of ifs. You are filled with ifs and yet you are making judgments? Rather than give the man the benefit of the doubt, you start casting aspersions and slurs.

“Do not wait until it happens to you before you know that there can be smoke without fire. If you have too much bile and venom inside you, then unleash on corrupt politicians. But before you bury Apostle Suleiman, I will urge you to wait until he dies.

The arrest of a jealous air force man who allegedy shot his girlfriend, Solape Oladipupo in Makurdi, Benue State has been confirmed by the Nigerian Air Force.

The sad incident happened on Saturday, March 11 at the NAF Tactical Air Command, Makurdi, Benue State.

It was learnt that the lady, popularly referred to as Shomzy, was allegedly shot dead by Kalu after he accused her of having a romantic affair with other men.

PUNCH gathered that the two air force officers had an affair for some months, after they met at a military parade.

It was learnt that Oladipupo, who hailed from Badagry, Lagos State, was on Saturday allegedly shot dead by Kalu after the latter accused her of dating other men.

After the killing, it was speculated that Kalu also shot himself because of his post on his Facebook page, which read, “My last night as an airman. Ask about me later and hear my story, you will be surprised.”

It was, however, learnt that Kalu had been arrested and in military detention.

The NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Group Captain Ayodele Famuyiwa, said investigations were ongoing into the matter to ascertain the motives of the suspect.

He said, “An airman and an airwoman were involved. They had a love relationship which resulted in the shooting. We do not yet know what transpired between them.

“She was initially rushed to NAF hospital, but when it was beyond their control, she was transferred to the state hospital where she died. The body has been recovered to our base now.

“The boy (Kalu) has been arrested. He did not die. The post on the social media is mere speculation. He is alive and in custody. Investigations are ongoing into the incident. We will unravel the circumstances that led to the incident.”

Meanwhile, friends of the late Oladipupo took to her Facebook page to mourn her, saying that Kalu must be prosecuted for the killing.

One of the friends, identified only as Esther, wrote, “This is why military girls do not like dating soldiers. This is madness. If she was in love with a civilian, he would not even dare to slap her. This is too much.”

Another wrote, “Rest in Peace, Shomzy. Your death is something I cannot easily forget because of your great military plans. Well, I can’t continue crying my dear, because all I have to do is to let go of what I cannot change.”

A Junior Secondary School student of Government Secondary School, Kachai, Raliya Suleiman has lost her right eye after her teacher’s cane hit her right eye because she came to school late.

Her Uncle, Sani Abubakar, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust said

“Raliya was late for school that faithful day, 23rd February, 2017 and the teacher, Moses Aura asked her and many others to kneel down and wait for him. When he came back, he started beating her and the cane hit her right eye. She was rushed to the National Eye Center, Kaduna, unfortunately, they said the water in the eye had drained out and there was nothing they could do to salvage the eye”.

The return of President Muhammadu Buhari has brought stability into the polity according to a former Abia State governor, Dr. Orji Kalu.

Kalu also said the infrastructural development in Lagos State under the leadership of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode would help to attract investment to the country.

Kalu, who spoke to journalists at the departure lounge of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, said Ambode’s exemplary leadership thus far, put him on the A-list of serving governors.

He also said Nigerians were happy that the President was back in good health.

President Buhari had gone on vacation to the UK on January 20, and also met with his doctors during the trip before returning on Friday.

Kalu said, “Now that the President is back, I am very happy; we have been praying. Both Christians and Muslims have been praying because the country has been so polarised that the fabrics of our nation have been eaten with tribalism and religion.

“So, I am very happy that the President is back and I want him to listen to his doctor’s advice and continue to take his medication, if any.”

The former governor noted that the President had kept his campaign promise of restoring peace to the north-eastern part of the country, which had been facing insurrection from the Boko Haram sect.

“I know that the President has done well in the area of defence and pursuing Boko Haram; I congratulate him as the Commander-in-Chief.

“I also praise the service chiefs – the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief of Air Staff and the Inspector-General of Police as well as the Director of Department of State Services – for their backup operation on Boko Haram,’’ he said.

He, however, called on the government to intensify efforts towards improving the economic situation in the country.

Kalu added, “Buhari took over when there were a lot of doubts in the economy; he took over when the oil prices went down sharply. And whenever your expenditure is more than your income, then there is already recession.

“So, I am not sure that recession is just going to end so soon. I believe now that the President is back, he should be able to fine-tune the economic team and put some recovery policies in place.”

Another lady has allegd she was in a sexual relationship with the Founder and President of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Johnson Suleman barely one week after Stephanie Otobo, claimed she was in a sexual relationship with him.

PREMIUM TIMES gathered on Sunday, March 12 that the lady, who identified herself as Queen Esther began a sexual relationship with Mr. Suleman (popularly known as Apostle Suleman) in 2013 before a “catastrophic break-up” a year later.

“I was an usher in his branch church, but I had a sexual relationship with him as he lured me into it in order to solve my spiritual problem and limitations to success in career and marriage, but after the sex he didn’t solve the problems for me, instead he started making proposal for us to marry,”

“I dated Apostle Suleman while I was a member in his church, he was my pastor, spiritual director and mentor aside being a boyfriend, from August 2013 to 2014 April.”

Ms. Esther continued that Mr. Suleman’s wife got to know about her affair with the cleric, a reason for her decision to end the relationship.

“I told him to give me a break in the relationship, so I can stay away from his wife’s view, and also get married to a single suitor I had at that time, instead he felt I was breaking up with him and began to threaten me, that I hurt him and that I will see the consequences of hurting him,” the lady said.

“Barely seven days after that, my body changed, I began to have strange movements in my body, my womb, sharp pains in my left breast,” she continued.

“I was taken to many places by my family and we were told that my boyfriend used me for sacrifice and wants to kill me, Suleman sent me text messages of threatening that I will die, I almost died if my God didn’t rescue me. So all my attempts to get him to heal me failed, I went to his father his father tried to talk to him, but he denied doing anything to me, till today.”

Ms. Esther turned down request to produce her photograph – or her real identity – saying she wants to first seek the protection of the Kaduna State Government from Mr. Suleman and “his team of magicians.”

“In the wake of this current sex scandal between Miss Otobo Stephanie and Johnson Suleman, I started having strange calls from people who speak Auchi language while making incantations on me once I pick their phone calls,” she said.

“I cannot be able to send my picture now till am (sic) sure of my protection from his followers’ attacks.
“Many ladies are victims of Johnson Suleman but they are afraid to come out publicly because they fear the consequences attached to their public stand against him, which is a possible spiritual attack and destruction on their life and destiny.”

A top official of the Kaduna State government confirmed that they received a request for protection from Ms. Esther, but added that the government does not want to be involved in the matter.

On Friday, Ms. Otobo said most of the evidence of her affair with Mr. Suleman got lost after her laptop was stolen on arrival at the Lagos airport, last year.
She accused the preacher of being behind the theft.

Ms. Esther concluded that her own evidence against Mr. Suleman – “videos of him around me in the church always,” phone calls, text messages – mysteriously disappeared from her phone immediately after their breakup.

“But if police can retrieve my text messages and phone calls from MTN service provider between the month of August 2013 and 2015 May, that will be enough to prove him guilty of oppression and threat to life.”

The UN Deputy Secretary-General, Ms Amina Mohammed, has said that it will take 170 years to achieve gender equality between women and men.

Mohammed, in her message to the Youth Forum of the Commission on the Status of Women, ahead of the International Commission on the Status of Women, said women and girls were being forced to confront higher obstacles to opportunity than men and boys.

“Gender-based discrimination, marginalization, violence and other human rights abuses; unequal access to education, to health care; these are basic rights and also to opportunities for leadership and participation. This list goes on and on.

“The barriers are so high that it would take 170 years to achieve economic equality between women and men; 170 years!

“I’m sorry but I do not accept a world that says – equality is not good enough for you or me or our daughters,” she said.

Brazil’s President Michel Temer blames bad vibes and even ghosts for driving him from his sumptuous official residence in the capital Brasilia, a Brazilian news weekly reported Saturday, March 11.

Temer surprised Brazilian politics watchers this week with the revelation that he has decamped from the Alvorada Palace and moved with his former beauty queen wife and their seven-year-old son down the road to the smaller vice presidential residence.

The modernist Alvorada, which means Dawn and was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, would be a dream home for many. It has a huge pool, football field, chapel, medical center and vast lawn.

But Temer, 76, and his 33-year-old wife Marcela, find the cavernous, glass-fronted building spooky.

“I felt something strange there. I wasn’t able to sleep right from the first night. The energy wasn’t good,” Temer was quoted as saying by Veja.

“Marcela felt the same thing. Only (their son) Michelzinho, who went running from one end to the other, liked it.”

“We even started to wonder: could there be ghosts?” he reportedly quipped to Veja.

According to a report in Globo newspaper, Marcela Temer brought in a priest to attempt to drive out any evil spirits, but to no avail.

The Temers then moved to the still luxurious but smaller Jaburu Palace nearby.

Temer knows it well: this was his residence when he served as vice president until last year when then president Dilma Rousseff was impeached for breaking budget accounting laws.

That automatically put Temer in the top job and in the Alvorada. No one filled his vacant vice presidential post, however, meaning he can now take his pick of palaces.

The house moving comes in the middle of a severe political crisis for Brazil, with many of Temer’s allies facing potential corruption probes.

The president himself is battling a case in the electoral court where he is accused of having benefited from illegal donations when he and Rousseff ran together in 2014.

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) made the allegation on Sunday, March 12.

MASSOB National Director of Information, Sunday Okoroafor said: “People who, by the colour of their skin, decided to associate with citizens of neighbouring countries, but are, sadly, killed, wounded and or dispossessed of their belongings as a result of hatred and jealousy.”

Okoroafor said: “Government has not shown enough commitment towards stopping these attacks; because Igbo people are more in population in South Africa.

“Federal government can stop this attack if they want to.”

A senior staff of the National Assembly Management, Mohammed Shuaibu slumped and died on the premises on Monday, March 13.

The cause of death remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Mohammed, who was the Clerk to the House of Representatives Committee on Agricultural Production Services, died after he complained of experiencing some discomfort.

Findings indicated that the deceased drove himself to to work on Monday, ahead of a scheduled meeting of the committee.

However, while he was in the office preparing for the meeting, he reportedly complained of the discomfort and slumped almost immediately.

He was promptly rushed to the National Assembly Clinic for medical attention, but doctors confirmed him dead on arrival at the clinic.

He was about 55 years old.

One source stated, “We are all in shock. He returned from Zaria (Kaduna State) yesterday (Sunday).

“He drove himself to work this morning and was looking healthy. His sudden death is a big shock to us.”

The Director of Information and Publications at the National Assembly, Mr. Dibal Ishaku, confirmed the incident, when The PUNCH sought his comments.

“Yes, our colleague has died. We don’t know what happened.

“The body has been taken back to Zaria”, Ishaku told The PUNCH.

The Chairman of the committee, Mr. Mohammed Monguno, also confirmed the death of his clerk.

Monguno mourned his exit, saying that his dedication to duty would be missed.

“He was a hard working officer, who was deployed in the committee about one year ago,” Monguno added.

The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris who made the recommendation approved for them the Commendation for Courage Medal, while others were promoted.

The team involved in the operation, the Inspector General of Police Intelligence Response Team, is headed by recently-promoted Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

According to The Eagle Online, one of those involved in the operation that led to the death of Vampire and six of his gang members, Sergeant Innocent Augustine, is still on admission.

Augustine was said to have been hit by multiple bullets during the operation and he “is responding to treatment very well and was equally promoted”.

Vampire was the kidnapper who was freed by his gang members in the premises of the Imo State High Court in Owerri.

After several days of trailing, the IRT had an encounter with Vampire and his team, during which he was killed alongside six members of the gang.

Thin Tall Tony (TTT), one of the strong contenders in the ongoing reality TV show Big Brother Nigeria has disclosed that Tboss has plans to kidnap him for one day outside the BBNaija house.

TTT who was Head of House for two weeks in a roll revealed this information during interaction with Ebuka the anchor of the Sunday live show where he said he found out about the plan during a discussion he had with her.

When asked if Bisola, whom he confessed to have learnt a lot from would approve of the said kidnap, he said ‘No’. 

He further said:

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said President Buhari is in the right state of health to resume work.

Speaking with state house correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari in the state house in Abuja yesterday, Osinbajo said;

“He is very well. We just had a very long meeting to bring the President up to speed on some of the things we have done while he was away‎. And he has given a few directives on what we should be doing on so many areas, the northeast, budget, the economy and a wide range of issues. He held a meeting with me for over an hour where we discussed a wide range of issues so his readiness for work is not in doubt at all. In fact he is over ready.”

Osinbajo disclosed he has officially handed over power back to President Buhari and has resumed office as Vice President

‘Every wise person would know that this is not a battle of humans but one between the Kingdom of God and that of darkness.

A Nigerian residing in South Africa was on Monday, March 13 sentenced by a South Gauteng High Court, to 25 years imprisonment for trafficking a 15-year-old girl and forcing her into prostitution.

The convict, Eke Ugochukwu was also found guilty of living-off the proceeds of sexual exploitation‚ being an accomplice to rape and contravening the Prevention and Combating of Trafficking in Persons Act of the country.

According to Judge Majake Mabasele, Ugochukwu will spend only 20 years out of the 25 years sentence behind bars.

“The accused is sentenced to 15 years for counts 3‚ 4 ‚ 5 ‚ 6 together.

“However, he is sentenced to another 10 years on count 8; which makes a total 25 years. But, five years will run concurrently with the 15 years above‚

“Therefore the accused is sentenced to an effective term of 20 years imprisonment,” said Judge Majake Mabasele.

Earlier, Ugochukwu’s lawyer had pleaded with the court to be lenient on his client‚ arguing that he was first time offender‚ and had a mother and child to support and had turned his back on his drug dealing ways.

However, Judge Mabasele said he did not agree that a fine would be an appropriate punishment.
